I personally think that the capacity for Grade 2 and 3 disappears when one masters Super Saiyan, and is replaced with the capacity for a proper Super Saiyan 2 instead. In my eyes, it's all the same power being tapped into. Goku decided that excessively forcing more power into Super Saiyan came with too many disadvantages. I figure that with a mastered Super Saiyan it's possibly easier to not only conserve energy, but to better put more energy into your attacks ("amplification," if you will) and make them just as effective as if you'd powered up your starting level through Grade 2. Like, a mastered Super Saiyan can start at 50 and charge up an attack to 150 in 3 seconds and lose only 5 points of energy firing it. Meanwhile a Grade 2 starts at 75, takes 5 seconds to charge an attack to 150, and loses 15 energy from firing it. Something like that. |

Good for you, but even if their speed was slightly inferior to their SSJ form, they'd still rip the Cell Juniors a new one. There's problems regardless of whether or not you follow the Daizenshuu. Edited by ThePrinceOfSaiyans, May 29 2014, 12:18 AM.

I didn't say anything about Vegeta/Trunks ability to defeat Cell Jr's in ASSj, I merely pointed out my opinion on speed issue of ASSj. |

Wasn't ASSJ said to increase speed in the anime? I know Krillen said it does in the dub. I don't know why Vegeta and Trunks didn't use the form but I believe MSSJ conditions the body to allow the USSJ forms power into base so that your fighting at the SSJ form's full power while being a normal SSJ. Thus the term Full Power Super Saiyan. |

I always thought the ASSJ form never decreased speed, and only the USSJ one did. Not to mention, where was it implied that normal SSJ Vegeta was not stronger than Semi-Perfect Cell? |

From Daizenshuu 2: Spoiler: click to toggle While it clearly states that Gr3 loses speed, it only says that Gr2 amplifies power. Speed loss is not mentioned. So going back to the original post, maybe they didn't feel like they had time to transform? The Cell Juniors came at them pretty quickly to be fair. Edited by SSJ, Jun 1 2014, 08:11 AM.

Nothing suggest that the mssj allows the user the power of ussj Mssj is a simple ssj form without any drawbacks on the body |

Conditioning your body allows the max ssj power to come into tge normal form. In my theory Goku and Gohan would not power up from bulking up their muscles. |

It's likely that both Trunks and Vegeta had started to master the form, but hadn't mastered the form to the level that Goku and Gohan had. Vegeta figured out what Goku and Gohan had done with their Super Saiyan forms when he saw them emerge from the ROSAT. We can only assume that he tried to do the same thing, but wasn't as successful in the amount of time that he had. FPSSj uses less ki than Grade 2 (ASSj) and is more efficient in ki power, so it's simply a more practical form to use. In addition to this, I remember a topic somewhere, which pointed out that Trunks upon returning to the Future after the defeat of Cell had the same aura as Goku did at the Cell games. This suggests that he was using the same form. Edited by Ketchup Revenge, Jun 2 2014, 05:20 AM.

I don't think Grade 2 increases speed. I think it can be trained to, but initially it doesn't. I don't think Goku's Grade 2 had any speed boost. Vegeta and Trunks trained the form over the course of a year plus to make it efficient. Now a year removed from that training they lost the speed boost making the transformation pointless |
